Health insurance for businesses with LESS than 50 employees

As an employer, you have choices. BenefiTree will provide proposals that best meet your budget and employee needs, which may include direct insurance carrier proposals, multiple options, and the SHOP Marketplace. We will offer solutions that may combine the cost effective SHOP plan, along with other buy-up plans that provide enhanced benefit options.

Every individual is required to have minimal essential coverage. BenefiTree is certified through the exchange to offer plans, support and service.

Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) Marketplace –

For 2014, the SHOP Marketplace is open to employers with 50 or fewer full-time-equivalent employees (FTEs). If you have fewer than 25 employees, you may qualify for tax credits if you buy insurance through SHOP.

You can use BenefiTree, as a licensed broker to provide help or handle your SHOP business.

BenefiTree can help you:

  • apply for insurance for your employees
  • review and compare price, coverage, quality, and other important features
  • choose a plan that works for your budget, business, and employees

Health insurance for businesses with 50 and above employees

If your business has 50 or more employees, you are considered a “large business” under the health care law. Several important parts of the law apply to you.

Most large employers can’t use the SHOP Marketplace. If you have more than 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees, you generally won’t be able to use the SHOP Marketplace to offer health insurance to them. Learn more about SHOP eligibility rules.

BenefiTree will work directly with Insurance Providers to create the plan choices that best fit your budget and employee demographics.

Starting in 2016, all SHOPs will be open to employers with up to 100 FTEs.  At that time, we will work with you to ensure that your plan choices continue to best represent your budget and employee demographics, while meeting all government guidelines.

The Employer Shared Responsibility Payment

The Employer Shared Responsibility Payment is a requirement under the health care law that will apply to some employers with 50 or more employees in 2015 or 2016.
